What’s up Summer?

Where has the Summer gone? Bikes and Camping. Jaclyn took a trip to New Brunswick, but that’s a whole different story.

Last time we checked, it was the May long weekend and we were in Hood River. Now it’s August and we’re planning a September trip to Yellowstone. Along with trip planning, we’ve got a busy month coming up: Crankworx, Big White CNEC, and a Heli-drop in Pemberton.

In the meantime, here’s what we’ve been up to so far.

We spent some time in Owl Creek in Pemberton. It’s a great go-to site when Whistler’s campgrounds are full. We’re not quite ready to pull the trailer up a Forest Service Road to find a place yet, so we rely on places with designated sites that are pretty easily accessed. This place is one of those.

Creekside or forested, these sites are pretty nice.

We did manage to snag a couple of weekends at Cal-Cheak in Whistler too. It’s getting harder to find space at this campground because it’s so close to the Village. We’ve found out that showing up early on a Friday or even Thursday night is the only way to guarantee a spot at this first-come, first serve place.

Regardless of where we stayed this summer, we did a lot of biking.  We checked off some trails that we’d been eyeing for a while (Salsa Roca and Green Monster), revisited some old favorites in Pemberton (Gravatrout) and had the chance to ride some new trails in Whistler.

Big climbs lead to big rewards
Things have gotten a little dusty lately

So far, so good. Can’t wait for the rest of the Summer.
